Hey all you banjo players! - What's better than a Mike Munford banjo workshop? Answer: How about 2 Mike Munford banjo workshops? Yes, that's right, banjo player extraordinaire and 2013 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year has graciously acceded to our request/pleading to do 2 workshops at the soon-to-be here North Cascades Bluegrass Festival. You can check them out on our website at ncbf.fun/workshops/ along with all of the other fantastic workshops that we have lined up and ready to go (19 in total!). Hey, You! Yeah, you sitting over there on the fence!

Did you know that ticket prices to the North Cascades Bluegrass Festival are going up this coming Friday, August 16th?? Well, it’s true, they are. So if you want to save yourself some money (and grief for having to pay a higher price after Thursday) you had better buy your tickets NOW! That way, with the money you save on your tickets you can then use it to buy a festival T-Shirt! That’s a Win-Win, I’d say.

One of the great bands that we are looking forward to welcoming to this year’s North Cascades Bluegrass Festival is Colebrook Road who hail from Harrisburg, PA. And if you want to know why, just have a look at this short bio of the band:

“The band is composed of lead singer, guitar player and songwriter Jesse Eisenbise, mandolinist and winner of the 2014 Watermelon Park Festival mandolin contest, Wade Yankey, upright bassist and tenor vocalist Jeff Campbell, banjoist, bass vocalist, dobro player and winner of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Banjo contest Mark Rast and fiddle player, baritone vocalist and winner of the 2015 Deer Creek Fiddler’s Convention Joe McAnulty. Colebrook Road performs original bluegrass while staying deeply rooted in tradition. Driving instrumentals to thoughtful ballads, distinctive covers to straight-drive three part harmony, this five-piece band has a sound all its own. Colebrook Road- a standout string band.”

Oh yeah, that’s a band we want to hear and HAD to have at this year’s Festival! Be sure and come hear them…while their britches still fit! (That’s a joke, guys!). And if you can’t wait until the festival, here’s a live video (is that an oxymoron?) of them performing a song called On Time www.youtube.com/watch?v=wexoE6g8YWE
