At last year’s festival we decided to hold an Instrument Swap Meet to see if there was any interest in our making it an ongoing part of the festival. Somewhat to our surprise, it turned out to be very popular and we received many favorable comments about it such as “What a great event…whoever came up with this idea is a freaking genius” and “Thanks for giving me an opportunity to unload, I mean, sell at a fair price, my 1968 Sears Silvertone guitar” or my favorite, “Would you be willing to swap your Gibson RB3 banjo for my Gibson Advanced Jumbo guitar? (I was and I did.)
Well good news friends and neighbors, because we are bringing it back again at this year’s festival. For the complete low-down on the swap meet check out this link on the festival’s website at ncbf.fun/bluegrass-instrument-swap-meet/ Please note that the swap meet is actually on Aug. 30th, Friday afternoon between 3 and 5pm (followed by our newest but also sure to be a hit Open-Mic stage) so if you were planning on waiting until the weekend to go to the swap meet you’ll be fat out of luck.
And if you happen to see this fiddle for sale at the swap meet, you might want to seriously consider making a bid for it if the price is anything under, say $25,000,000.
PS – In an effort to further gin up excitement for the Instrument Swap Meet, we will give to the first person who correctly identifies the name of the “fiddle” and posts it as a comment, a t-shirt of their choice from last year’s festival (limited to stock on hand) – a true collector’s item if there ever was one. Please note that you do have to be present at this year’s festival to pick up the t-shirt as we have absolutely no budget to mail it to anyone. ... See MoreSee Less
