The North Cascades Bluegrass Festival has announced that it is cancelling this year’s festival due to the recent surge in Covid infections in Washington State and Whatcom County. Festival co-founders, Daniel Tepper and David Starr, made the announcement today and stated that “While the decision to cancel the festival was difficult, it was not hard. At the end of the day, the safety of our festival attendees and volunteers is paramount and we felt that the recent dramatic increase in infections left us with little choice but to cancel the festival. To say that we are disappointed is a major understatement but the risk factor was such that we truly felt like we had no choice but to cancel the festival.”
A full refund including all fees will be automatically sent to all individuals that have already purchased a ticket. The refund will be in the form of a credit issued to the credit card used to purchase the ticket and will be automatically generated by the festival’s ticketing system. No refund request or additional steps are necessary on the part of the ticket purchaser to receive the refund.
“While the cancellation of this year’s festival is definitely sad, we are still planning on holding the festival in 2022. All of the bands that were booked to play at this year’s festival have been invited back to play at the 2022 festival which will be held over the Labor Day Weekend”, stated Tepper and Starr. “Hopefully, the third time is the charm” they said noting that the festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
